Sophistication meets safari with this blazer that will take you from afternoon drinks to a roaring night out on the town. When you’re on the hunt for a look that’s a little more exotic yet elegant you really cannot go past animal print.
Over complicated designs usually don’t do this print or its wearer any favours and this was one of the issues I was having in sourcing a Zebra blazer that was timeless and decadent. After endless struggles I decided to have what I had envisaged custom made.
What I love about made to measure clothing is it flatters, never shows its age, and has the power to supply the wearing with confidence as it is exactly what you desire. I had been searching for a zebra blazer for the past two years and had no luck in finding one that I was supremely happy to part with the dollars required to buy it. After a quick trip to The Spectre Collection with my newly purchased fabric from The Fabric Store in Brunswick, I was able to finesse the finer details of what style of blazer I wanted to create with the stunning fabric. The vision in my mind came to life with being measured, selecting hidden pockets or contrasting lining, button selection and lapel width. After a few short weeks my vision was a reality.
Zebra is ideal for the man who wants to announce his presence, intensify his animal magnetism and does not run with the traditional pack. The black and white palette is effortlessly chic and an easy pattern to incorporate with a crisp white shirt and a pair of black trousers. Here I have paired black velvet trousers to really amplify the luxury vibes and a pair of Dolce and Gabbana sequined loafers.
It’s a bit daring, yes. You’re making a strong visual statement, but without actually being too risky. Pairing it with black or white, you’re still playing it fairly safe. The rule with any dominant print is you should be wearing it, not the other way around. Command that rule and you will be surprised at how good you look!
I am a huge adorer of all things exuberant, colourful and opulent whilst looking to formulate a new glamorous twist on traditional menswear and push it forward from its conservative barriers. Being stylish doesn’t mean being boring or blending in with the crowd, nowadays fantasy and creativity is just what we need more of in life. Take a walk on the wild side and earn your stripes.
